Title: The Role of Eye Movements in Reinstating Detailed Memories

Abstract:

Gaze reinstatement is the reinstatement of encoding-related eye movement patterns during memory retrieval. Evidence of gaze reinstatement suggests that eye movements play a functional role in retrieving memories by recapitulating the spatiotemporal context from encoding. This has been shown to support retrieval of individual items, associations, and complex scenes. However, less is known about how gaze reinstatement measures can index the fine-grained details of memory. In this talk, I will describe the methods and preliminary results of an eyetracking study that investigates this question using everyday scenes and objects.

The talk will be in person in the Psychology Reading room, COR A228, from 3:00 – 4:30.
