Posting for Metabolomics Technician at Genome BC Proteomics Centre
The UVic-Genome BC Proteomics Centre (PC) has a posting for a Metabolomics Technician. The successful candidate will work in the metabolomics group at the Centre with senior scientists and experienced biochemists and chemists. The focus of the position includes application of LC-multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM)/MS and LC-high-resolution MS based metabolomics assays and innovative techniques to analyze metabolites and lipids for service projects, as well as to aid in method optimization and validation of new metabolomics assays for research projects. In addition, the technician will also provide general laboratory support at the Centre as required.
Qualifications
BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, chemistry or a related science
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, with good patience, care and sense of responsibility
Necessary technical and methodological training will be provided.
Prior hands-on experience in quantitative analysis, an analytical laboratory and/or a good understanding of the mechanisms and practice of chromatography, mass spectrometry and related sample preparation techniques would be a benefit.
Good interpersonal communication skills. Well organized and detail oriented.
Flexible time schedule and after-hours work occasionally needed.
