Our Team
Meet the team that is building and designing the club’s next project!
Executive Members
Meet the team members that are leading the charge in building the club’s next big project.

Kiana Darrell (she/her)
Co-Chair
Kiana is a 6th-year Biomedical Engineering student in the Mechanical stream. She has been involved with BMED since 2020 and is excited to take on more responsibilities within the club. One of her favourite BMED projects to work on was the “Makers Making Change” project which included assembling 3D-printed accessible buttons and modifying children’s toys to accommodate these buttons to make them more accessible. Something unique about Kiana is that in her spare time, she does archery and is a certified archery coach for beginners.

Maya Daniels (she/her)
Co-Chair
Maya is a 5th year Mechanical-stream Biomedical Engineering student. She’s been a part of BMED since 2020. She was the co-lead for the Mechanical team before taking on more responsibility as the co-chair. One of her favourite projects involved designing and prototyping a prosthetic hand for a toddler in Victoria. In her spare time, Maya enjoys knitting, crocheting, running, and bouldering.

Erienne O'Grady (she/they)
Project Lead
Erienne is a 4th year Biomedical Engineering student in the Mech stream. They’ve been involved with the the club since 2022, and is happy to be a project lead this year. They’ve done co-ops in telecommunications and research, but is passionate about biomedical engineering in the context of veterinary medicine. In their non-school hours, they enjoy reading and umpiring for rowing regattas.

Lily Roberts (she/they)
Project Lead
Hi, I’m Lilly! I’m a fourth-year student in the electrical stream of the biomedical engineering program at UVic, and I’m really excited to contribute to the BMED club as the team lead for the Swivel Safe project this year. I’ve been a member of the BMED club since 2021, and have contributed my electrical and mechanical engineering skills to the Mobilarm, and breathing rate monitor projects. In my free time I love hiking, bouldering, painting and weaving.

Molly James (she/her)
Event Planning Lead
Molly is a 5th year student who is the event planning lead for the club. She is interested in bio-mechanics, medical devices, and clinical tool development. She has experience working on wheelchairs, working with amputees and prostheses, and working with motion-capture systems and their application as a clinical tool. She also is interested in fabric and textiles and the application of seemingly unrelated fields to medicine and engineering. Molly also enjoys knitting, sewing, and crafting –which she often does listening to a good audio book.
About Our Team
The UVic Biomedical Engineering Design Club is made up of passionate, aspiring engineering students designing and prototyping the next big Biomedical Engineering project. We have students of all levels of skill and always welcome anyone who wants to try their hand at helping their local community through the development of community focused biomedical projects. Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, and Software Engineering are just a few of the faculties our students are a part of and welcome anyone who wishes to join the team!
