Call for Applications: STEM Fellowship Science Communication Executive Team

We are currently recruiting students for executive roles on our national Science Communication team and I was wondering if you would be able to share our call for applications with your students. Our Science Communication division comprises the STEM Fellowship Journal (SFJ) – an open-access peer-reviewed journal supported by Canadian Science Publishing, a national high school scholarly writing competition, scientific editing certification and interactive scholarly communication workshops that have been delivered to over 500 students across Canada. Roles for Science Communication Executive Members include editing manuscripts submitted by students to the SFJ, developing scholarly writing workshops, conducting outreach to academic institutions to develop partnerships for the SFJ and collaborating with our existing partners (including Youth Science Canada, Digital Science, The Knowledge Society, and SciNet) to implement various initiatives relating to Science Communication. Our call for applications is linked below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N4XEjZyUOq46B0shYNjcsloiEr95sJxh/view?usp=sharing

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or require any further information. The deadline for applications is January 11, 2019.

Thank you for your time.

UVic 5th Annual Mental Health Awareness Event

Dear students,

On the 16th of January, UVic is hosting the 5th Annual Mental Health Awareness Event in the Farquhar Auditorium, featuring Shane Kocyzan, spoken word poet and writer, and a special student story-weave performance presenting the lived experiences of UVic students.

We are looking for students (or recent graduates) who would feel comfortable being a part of a group story-weave performance at the event, where they would share their story of how their lives have been touched by mental health. This includes both challenges and successes, as well as how their lives and university experience has been impacted by mental health.

This is an amazing opportunity for students to share their experiences with the campus community and remind others that they are not alone.

If you are interested in participating in the group story-weave performance, please contact Anne Cirillo at acirillo@uvic.ca by December 14th.

Thank you,

The Planning Committee
