EDI Climate Survey

Dear Biology undergrad students;

Thanks to those of you who have already taken the time to respond to the Biology EDI Climate survey.  I have received feedback that some students are concerned that they could be de-anonymized if they self-identify in a group with a low response rate. We understand this concern, and please know that protecting your privacy is extremely important to us.

Here is what we are doing to avoid you being identified/de-anonymized:

  1. Only select individuals in the Dean’s office and, potentially, in the Science EDI council (excluding BIOL members) will be permitted to view the data. No one in BIOL will ever have access to the raw data.
  2. The raw data will never be released. Instead, we will be providing BIOL administration with an aggregated-data report.
  3. If, in any category, we have a low number of responses (less than 5), these results will not be included in the report.
  4. If any responses could potentiallybreak anonymity, then these results will either be anonymized, pooled with another group, or excluded from the report.

We will be using the results of this survey to address EDI issues and plan future supports within BIOL. All under-represented voices and experiences are extremely important to us.

To learn more about the survey and the steps we are taking to protect your privacy, please visit the FAQ page here.

You can go directly to the survey here.

If you have more questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to Lily Stanton, Science Administrative Assistant, scieassist@uvic.ca

If you prefer to remain completely anonymous, you can provide comments using this form.

Warmly,

Faculty of Science, EDI Council
