Carbon Fiber Manufacturing

Our long awaited BDAM Composite Material Program has been officially launched!

It’s time to conquer carbon fiber!

Our first projects using PrePreg carbon fiber was to experiment with different patterns and resign levels for manufacturing handlebars, seat tubes, and bike frame tubes/sections!

Using 3D printed molds and recycled tire tubes as bladders, we created our first handlebar section to undergo strength, stress, and feasibility tests & trails. Working closely with out faculty advisor Dr. Bosco Yu, we’ll be spending some serious time in the wet labs!

We’re working closely with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to create a carbon fiber wet lab for graduate students making PrePreg bicycle components from scratch!
