I am currently teaching full time PE at Belmont Secondary. I am also the director of the Belmont Soccer Academy in it’s 5th year. I had been teaching leadership for the past three years, but felt I need a break from the intensity and I’m certainly loving teaching full-time PE. As of fall 2015, I have moved to the new Royal Bay Secondary School in the Sooke District.

I want to also highlight my own non-profit society – Canadian World Education Society (CanWES)

In 2005, I trekked through Annapurna circuit in Nepal with a guide who turned out to be a teacher with a remarkable story. I learned of his hope to create quality education in the remote village where he grew up. Over the next 2 years I worked hard to determine how I could help.

After months of debating, I decided I would create my own non-profit society and build schools in developing nations. To date, I have built one school. I’m extremely proud of the accomplishments of both myself and my board of directors.

Currently, CanWES is the sole provider for the Everest English School (EES) in Sanitar, Nepal. The school opened in April 2008.

Since CanWES was born in 2007, we have raised over $250,000, bought the property for EES, constructed 3 buildings that host 17 classrooms offering quality education to 230 students, and pay the salaries of 15 staff. All this has occurred in 6 short (and incredibly fast) years!!
