What am I doing now? Well, I am back at the University of Victoria! After a brief stint of teaching high school (Oak Bay, Brentwood College, The American Community School in London) I went to Indiana University for a MSc, back to UVic for a PhD, and spent some time at the University of British Columbia and Dalhousie University in research positions before returning home. While I am not really on the education side of things – I somehow ended up as a neuroscientist – in my laboratory we study the mechanisms in the brain that underlie human learning. And the best part? I get to teach my favourite course, EPHE 245 Motor Learning, in the same classroom I took it in.
