After working as a TOC in the Coast Mountains and North Island School Districts for a couple of years I came home to Nanaimo in 2013. I have worked as a TOC in grades K-12 and had a string of short-term contracts teaching Social Studies, Psychology, and French.
I have been fortunate to get my first continuing contract this year teaching French part-time at my old high school, Dover Bay Secondary. Although I have only taught PE as a TOC I am so grateful for my training and everything I learned at UVic. I did not set out to teach French but have had a lot of fun with it so far and I am planning to go to Quebec next summer to further improve my language skills. As for 2016-17, I am teaching at Nanaimo Secondary School.
When I’m not teaching I love spending time with family and friends, hiking, skiing, watching hockey, and travelling whenever and wherever I can!
