After completing my final practicum at D.W Poppy Secondary in Langley, and virtually graduating from Uvic in May 2020, I was immediately hired as a TTOC for the Langley School District. However, schools were closed due to the global pandemic and thus didn’t allow for any TTOCing time. In July, I was offered a temporary 1.0 permanent TTOC contract which guaranteed me 5 days a week of work. But in August, I accepted a 0.6 teaching contract at Aldergrove Community Secondary School (ACSS) as a home economics teacher. Although this is not my teachable, I believe there are a lot of similarities between PHE and home economics. Since September, I have been teaching full time – 3 days a week teaching home economics at ACSS and the other 3 days TTOCing. I have enjoyed TTOCing but I have recently accepted a 0.4 home economics position at Peter Ewart Middle school. I look forward to starting this new position, while also continuing at ACSS in the new year.
