Teaching has been good us. We have had many different teaching placements including going to China for a year with our two children. We worked for Maple Leaf International Schools and were able to teach many different courses, including Math, Science and Drama. If you are thinking of going overseas to teach, we strongly recommend connecting with Maple Leaf. The Maple Leaf team was helpful, accommodating and pay the same rate as BC schools.
Before going to China, we spent a year teaching in a small northern community where we both took on new courses. Melanie took over the Home Ed. Dept. and Darcy was in charge of the Shops. Currently, we are both working for the Prince George school district. Melanie is teaching PE 9 and 10, while Darcy is again teaching Metalwork and Woodwork.
Both of us have started masters programs with UBC. We started while away in China and have continued course by course with online learning.
