After graduating I spent a few years teaching in different places, mostly in Alt Ed environments with At Risk youth. I went back to university and completed a Masters in Counselling. Currently, I’m working fulltime as a school counsellor at an attachment-focused Alternate School in SD69 here on Vancouver Island. Looking back, having a B.Ed. has allowed me to move around a lot, to be influenced by some phenomenal adolescents, and to honour my own core values. Importantly, my experience in U Vic’s PE program provided me an understanding of body-based learning which has consistently provided me an entry point to develop collaborative relationship, to encourage self-efficacy, and to make learning more fun… even though I rarely teach PE.
