UVic Librarian Dr. Zahra Premji hosted the first Evidence Synthesis Institute in Canada with librarian colleagues from Canada and the United States. Librarian involvement and support for evidence synthesis outside of the health sciences is growing rapidly. But many librarians have no prior training or experience with these methodologies.

The training institute covers the steps that librarians may be involved in, as well as other aspects such as providing services and programs, supporting graduate students, etc. It also aims to build a national and international network/community among librarians who are new to working in this area. The institute is generously funded by UVic Libraries.
