Geospatial Librarian Daniel Brendle-Moczuk co-organized and curate the “Making our Waste Visible & Knowledge Mobilization” exhibition at UVic Libraries with the Community-Based Research Laboratory (CBRL).

“While waste is part of our everyday life experience, we distance ourselves from whatever happens to our waste after discard. We believe that the waste management system takes care of it. Engaging with the issue of our waste allows us to draw connections to key societal issues ranging from environmental degradation, poverty and justice, community development, climate change, policies, regulation, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

About CBRL: For almost 20 years UVic Geography’s Community-Based Research Laboratory (CBRL) has been involved in numerous research projects with many local and international communities, co-generating new knowledge regarding discard and waste studies and climate change action research. Created by Dr. Jutta Gutberlet in 2005, CBRL hosts a group of researchers and students that are committed to participatory oriented and community-based research in Canada and around the world.
