The Electronic Textual Cultures Lab (ETCL) at the University of Victoria seeks an engaged and organized self-starter for the position of Coordinator (Operations), a full-time (40 hours a week)*, on-campus role.
About us: The ETCL (etcl.uvic.ca) is a Humanities lab located in the Digital Scholarship Commons of the University of Victoria Libraries. The ETCL is a hub for digital humanities and open scholarship activities across the UVic campus, from coast-to-coast, and around the world.
With a mandate including research, teaching, and service activities, the ETCL acts as an intellectual centre for the activities of some twenty local faculty, staff, and students as well as visiting scholars (over 150 since 2004). ETCL members work closely with research centres, libraries, academic departments, and projects locally, regionally, and internationally. Through a series of highly collaborative relationships, the ETCL’s international community comprises over 300 researchers.
The ETCL is coordinated by the Canadian Social Knowledge Institute at UVic.

Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
•    A university degree at the Masters level, or commensurate work experience in a public institution-based administrative role
•    Documented experience in administration and project management
•    Competency in standard office software, including word processing suites as well as with basic content management systems (e.g. WordPress)
•    Event planning and hosting experience with exceptional organizational and communication skills
•    Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines, tracking details, planning ahead, effectively prioritizing tasks, and communicating with the team
•    Experience working in and proclivity for working in a team environment
•    High degree of professionalism and attention to detail
This position is based in the ETCL at the University of Victoria. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work both independently and with a consultative research team. Ideally, the candidate would also demonstrate an interest and aptitude in digital humanities and open and/or digital scholarship.

Primary Position Duties
Duties of the Coordinator (Operations) include the following:
•    Leading by positive example
•    Providing operational, managerial, and sometimes supervisory support to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
•    Developing and managing shared informational resources and best practices
•    Planning and executing tasks, duties, budgets, and expenditures
•    Coordinating payroll, accounting, and reporting
•    Coordinating and facilitating positive professional relationships across researchers, partners, constituency, and pertinent UVic admin and support units
•    Documenting lab activities and overseeing the maintenance of the ETCL and DHSI and other websites (in collaboration with team members)
•    Regularly meeting with team members and maintaining close communication with the Director and Co-director on lab activities
•    Other related duties as assigned, including in future participating in the coordination of lab events such as the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (dhsi.org)
The position will begin before May 1 2023, and is in the form of an annual, renewable contract. Salary for this position is at U Victoria rates and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
