The Electronic Textual Cultures Laboratory (ETCL ) at the University of Victoria has an opening for a Project Manager in an exciting program of research involving the electronic book.

The Project Manager will be a key member of a research team based at UVic and including researchers and research partners across Canada, the US, and the UK. Duties include coordinating communication and reporting mechanisms within and among the team members and funding agency, handling data management support, administering the project’s budget, providing record keeping, assisting in project planning, and managing local events and the local research lab.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (Bachelors; Masters preferable) in an area pertinent to the program of research, with skills and aptitudes working in a research team environment, research project coordination and planning, and budget development and coordination. Also essential are: technical facility with computational technologies of communication (including listervs, websites, wikis, and blogs); budget management; human resource management; and knowledge of university policies and procedures related to research, especially at UVic and our funding agency. The ability to work in concert with our existing team is a critical requirement.

Salary for this position is competitive in the Canadian context, is governed in part by SSHRC practices, and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position’s contract is for a one year term, renewable for the duration of this long-term project.
