Dr. Aaron H Devor<\/a>, PhD, FSSSS, FSTLHE, is the\u00a0Chair in Transgender Studies<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Victoria<\/a> and has been studying and teaching about transgender topics since the mid-1980s. He’s an author of versions 6, 7, and 8 of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health\u2019s (WPATH) Standards of Care<\/em>. He is also the author of numerous well-cited scholarly articles, and the widely-acclaimed books FTM: Female-Io-Male Transsexuals in Society<\/em> (2016, 1997), Lambda-Literary-Awards-finalist The Transgender Archives: Foundations for the Future<\/em><\/a> (2014), and Gender Blending: Confronting the Limits of Duality<\/em> (1989). He has delivered lectures to audiences around the world, including more than 40 keynote and plenary addresses. He is a national-award-winning teacher, an elected member of the International Academy of Sex Research, an elected Fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, and the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. He serves on the Editorial Boards the Archives of Sexual Behavior <\/em>and\u00a0The Journal of Sex Research,<\/em> as well as on the Canada Research Chairs College of Reviewers and the Advisory Board of the Digital Transgender Archives. Devor's second book, FTM: Female-to-Male Transsexuals in Society<\/a>, provided a detailed, compassionate, intimate, and incisive portrait of the life experiences of 45 transmen and suggested theoretical frameworks for understanding the interplay of gender, sex, and sexuality. His more recent research focussed on Reed Erickson<\/a>, a transman and founder of the Erickson Educational Foundation, who was instrumental in bringing issues of transgender and gay rights into public awareness during the mid-twentieth century. Currently, Dr. Devor is actively building more depth and breadth in what is already the world's largest Transgender Archives<\/a>.
