Database Research

We supplemented our qualitative findings with a quantitative study using databases with numerical data regarding the frequency and nature of ACT clients interactions with police officers. We looked at changes over time for individuals on ACT teams to see if changes in their service use was predicted by changes in their involvement with the ACT program, as well as the number of ACT Officers currently on the team.

Secondary Traumatic Stress Research

As a result of discussions with Island Health ACT staff and management, an identified program need was to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ACT staff well-being. We are conducting a study to understand the secondary traumatic stress that ACT staff may or may not receive as a result of their work on the ACT teams, how being on an interdisciplinary team might affect these processes, and how to better support the well-being of ACT staff from an organizational standpoint.
