{"id":2944,"date":"2019-02-13T12:00:20","date_gmt":"2019-02-13T20:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/PEA\/?p=2944"},"modified":"2019-04-02T08:34:31","modified_gmt":"2019-04-02T15:34:31","slug":"executive-minutes-february-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/PEA\/2019\/02\/13\/executive-minutes-february-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Executive Minutes February 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PEA UVic Chapter Executive Meeting Minutes<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday February 13, 2019<\/p>\n<p>12:00pm-1:40pm | Career Services Boardroom<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Appointment of minute taker:\u00a0Melissa Doyle<\/li>\n<li>Motion to approve the agenda:\u00a0MSC (KC\/CC)<\/li>\n<li>Approve minutes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>31 Motion to Approve Minutes: NTR<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Labour Relations Officer (Gallupe): \u00a0see notes attached<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Grievances &amp; cases update on ME classifications (~150 MEs on campus), group grievance resolution, probation extensions, and new business.<\/li>\n<li>JEQ committee\/process updates: still going well and Al is responding to ongoing questions from members about job description changes, facilitating conversations between management\/staff, and consulting with Human Resources<\/li>\n<li>Discussed Uvic servicing: ~85% of LRO portfolio typically Uvic; any other project-based initiatives would require additional personnel\/resources\n<ul>\n<li>Al meeting with HR about job descriptions (ensuring metrics are not actually part of the posting)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Association Executive (Karras\/Clausen): Jan 14<sup>th<\/sup> President\u2019s role special meeting (teleconference) &amp; January 21<sup>st<\/sup> regular meeting (Richmond)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Despite strong opposition from Uvic chapter representatives (and table officers), there were enough PEA Association Executive members in attendance on January 21<sup>st<\/sup> to carry forward an amended motion <em>in favour<\/em> of pursuing a 2-year trial of a full-time (1.0 FTE) paid President \u2013currently, all executive are unpaid volunteers and union leave\/unpaid time is reimbursed to respective employers. The updated proposal on job description, salary, etc. for the President\u2019s role will be presented to the entire PEA membership for a vote before implementation can occur.<\/li>\n<li>Next meeting is March 11th (teleconference\/Victoria)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Current Business or otherwise to be assigned:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Executive member replacement for Chris Clausen \u2013 Association Executive\n<ul>\n<li>MSC (CC\/MD) to appoint Katy Chan for Director at Large role on Executive\n<ul>\n<li>Melissa to connect with Toshie, CC Katy\u2026 mention Association Exec attendance for Convention as well<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dave Sanderson \u2013 A\/U; will be ongoing monthly commitment\n<ul>\n<li>MSC (MD\/KC) &#8211; appointing Kristen Ficke to this position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LTD Trust &#8211; Sheryl&#8217;s position is coming up for renewal. Our role is trustee for the fund.\n<ul>\n<li>MSC (CC\/SK) &#8211; Adam Gaudes to be appointed trustee for the fund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2019 Convention \u2013 resolutions from our chapter \u2013 deadline: 1 March\n<ul>\n<li>Possibly on budgeting (Kristen Ficke starting this process)<\/li>\n<li>April all delegates get-together: Sheryl to coordinate with Chris for booking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteer Week \u2013 7-13 April \u2013 opportunity to host an event to thank our Chapter volunteers (coffee and cake). <strong>Katy to reach out to Tim about booking April 10th in Executive Classrooms, 11:30am-1:30pm for Cake + Coffee.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discussion on our chapter communication to members.
