1. Motion to approve the agenda: M/S/C.
2. Approve minutes

3. Labour Relations Officer (Montgomery): posted in Slack
4. Association Executive (Karras/Doyle/Chan/Haman): held meeting 7 December

– BC Fed resolution on PSE funding passed with overwhelming support from other unions

– Motion to extend bursary on behalf of a member on leave passed

– Motion for additional staffing support passes; contracted Al Gallupe for ad hoc LRO project work and will be hiring a Co-Op student to assist with temporary admin work

– Discussions on opportunities for Impact Investing

– Acknowledgement and recognition of staff (donated money from the annual luncheon to the Union Protein Project)

  • PEA Strategic priorities for 2021
    • Continued COVID response
    • Bargaining Prep (4 tables in 2021 and 6 in 2022)
    • PEA Virtual Convention in April 2021
    • LRO staffing transitions & enhanced member servicing
    • Ambitious Education Plan for Equity and Diversity Topics
    • Continued Support for Member Health & Wellness
    • Expanding Chapter-Based Communication & Engagement Plans
    • Enhanced Governance Structure
    • Return to Office Plan
    • Upgrades to PEA database for measuring member engagement metrics & modernizing filing system
  • Discussion
    • Opportunities for Chapter bargaining research and prep in 2021
      • Need resources to analyze and interpret data we have (e.g. market surveys/Job Evaluations, CTO numbers, benefits, management exclusions, telework surveys, etc.)
    • Best use of investments and returns
    • Want to know stats for LRO servicing metrics (e.g. number of grievances, number of member inquiries)
  • Schedule meetings for 2021 including planning a Chapter retreat (February)
    • Ori will send out a doodle poll for both and book a room for third week
  • Motion to confirm Cliff Haman and John Foxgord as signing directors of the University of Victoria Chapter of PEA Coast Capital accounts.

  • One time increase to chapter charitable donations
    • Have about 6 members on temporary layoff and 12 members on reduced FTE/Federal Workshare
    • Kristen will work with John to determine space in budget and $$ for donation
  • Motion to confirm LTD Trustee for two-year term from April 2021 – Adam G. is willing to continue
