  1. Motion to approve the agenda: M, S, Carried.
  2. Approve minutes: 12 February 2020 (posted on slack) M, S, Carried.
  3. Labour Relations Officer (Montgomery):
    • PEA revisiting feasibility of hosting Education conference and attending CLC conference
    • Action Item: send out member update on teleworking pilot & COVID-19 ASAP
    •  Update on COVID-19 LOA
    •  Concerns about economic impacts to members both short-term and long-term (eg. Pensions, layoffs, insurance premiums increasing, etc.)
  4. Association Executive (Karras/Chan/Haman): 2 March facilitated session: Stacey Holloway – difficult conversations and climate; 3 March regular meeting: regular business plus discussion about president’s role and how to move forward; motion to cancel plans for full-time president, defeated
  5. Current Business or otherwise to be assigned:
    • Jordana W. and Brett H. to provide update on UVic Chapter Communications Plan
      • New member onboarding
        • Reduce lag from employer for the communication to new members.
        • Create a PEA-provided seminar for all new UVic members (June)
        • Include local rep information
          • What about buildings without local reps? The chapter exec can send out a targeted email
          • The local rep is still responsible for scheduling the 1 on 1 coffees
        • Chapter semester updates (3x/year)
          • Could pair up with Know and Love Your Collective Agreements
          • Chapter exec would review content before publication
          • Will do A/B testing for member engagement stats
          • Which member to profile?
            • Someone from Systems? Jeff Albert
            • Someone from Student Affairs for the next one
          • Request for sponsorship ( for information for budget planning for 2020)
            • OK to withdraw motion this year due to extenuating circumstances
          • TC 10K Cliff would like offer the following
            • MOTION: I move that the UVic chapter make available $250.00 in funds to offset 50% of the entry fee for up to 10 of our interested members.

    • Engaging members on specific issues that face the UVic community – Divestment?
    • VPFO is interested in what our members have to say on this and other issues
    • Survey the members in the April communication? Too much going on?
    • Bring in a guest speaker about responsible investing? Paul Siluk?

    • Increase budget for member engagement and run a slight deficit?
    • Decrease budget for Pond Party?

    • 621 Local Representatives (Chan/Connor): 26 Feb discussed: new onboarding process, JE Seminar (March), round table – summary posted on Slack

      • 3-4 seminars throughout the rest of the year.

          • Proposal: do local rep appointments via the local rep committee.
