PEA UVic Chapter Executive Meeting Minutes

31 Motion to Approve Minutes: NTR

Grievances & cases update on ME classifications (~150 MEs on campus), group grievance resolution, probation extensions, and new business.
JEQ committee/process updates: still going well and Al is responding to ongoing questions from members about job description changes, facilitating conversations between management/staff, and consulting with Human Resources
Discussed Uvic servicing: ~85% of LRO portfolio typically Uvic; any other project-based initiatives would require additional personnel/resources
- Al meeting with HR about job descriptions (ensuring metrics are not actually part of the posting)

Association Executive (Karras/Clausen): Jan 14^th President’s role special meeting (teleconference) & January 21^st regular meeting (Richmond)

Despite strong opposition from Uvic chapter representatives (and table officers), there were enough PEA Association Executive members in attendance on January 21^st to carry forward an amended motion in favour of pursuing a 2-year trial of a full-time (1.0 FTE) paid President –currently, all executive are unpaid volunteers and union leave/unpaid time is reimbursed to respective employers. The updated proposal on job description, salary, etc. for the President’s role will be presented to the entire PEA membership for a vote before implementation can occur.
Next meeting is March 11th (teleconference/Victoria)

Executive member replacement for Chris Clausen – Association Executive
- MSC (CC/MD) to appoint Katy Chan for Director at Large role on Executive
  - Melissa to connect with Toshie, CC Katy… mention Association Exec attendance for Convention as well

Dave Sanderson – A/U; will be ongoing monthly commitment
- MSC (MD/KC) – appointing Kristen Ficke to this position

LTD Trust – Sheryl’s position is coming up for renewal. Our role is trustee for the fund.
- MSC (CC/SK) – Adam Gaudes to be appointed trustee for the fund

2019 Convention – resolutions from our chapter – deadline: 1 March
- Possibly on budgeting (Kristen Ficke starting this process)
- April all delegates get-together: Sheryl to coordinate with Chris for booking

Volunteer Week – 7-13 April – opportunity to host an event to thank our Chapter volunteers (coffee and cake). Katy to reach out to Tim about booking April 10th in Executive Classrooms, 11:30am-1:30pm for Cake + Coffee.
