The Professional Employees Association and the University of Victoria have reached a tentative agreement.  Your UVic Bargaining Committee is recommending members vote yes.

Some highlights of the deal include:

  • 6 per cent general wage increases over 3 years
  • 0.4 per cent lift to the ceiling rate on July 1, 2021
  • dental and medical benefit improvements
  • addresses critical skills market adjustments
  • improvements to stat holiday pay for employees required to work
  • members will now be able to take long service vacation up front
  • compassionate care leave increased to 27 weeks
  • maternity and parental leave changes to account for changes to the Employment Insurance Act and Employment Standards Act
  • improves process over work scheduling
  • improvements to language that enhances union effectiveness
  • language that guarantees consultation on intellectual property

The ratification process for this collective agreement is through an online vote. Members will have received a personal link to access the ballot directly. You can vote anytime until 11:59 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019.
