PEA UVic Chapter Executive Meeting Minutes

Present: Sheryl Karras, Samantha Montgomery, Melissa Doyle, Kristen Ficke, Ori Granot, Chris Clausen, Dave Sanderson, Katy Chan, Mike Cave

 

1.Appointment of minute taker: Sanderson.

2.Motion to approve the agenda: Motion (Clausen) Seconded (Granot).

3.Approve May minutes: Motion(Sanderson) Seconded(Cave)

4.Labour Relations Officer (Gallupe): NTR. In Vancouver

5.Association Executive (Doyle/Clausen):

• July 9^th meeting
• Discussion of increasing staff funding
• Preparation for strat planning.
• Discussion of bargaining updates.

6.Current Business or otherwise to be assigned:

6.1    Bargaining info session- This had a good turnout with lots of questions about what will be on the table. Talks of a pre-Survey to define what will be on the survey.

6.2    Sponsorship for a hole at the Vikes Golf Tournament was approved via email and funded. Will be held August 1^st and we have space for 1 of our members.

6.3    The pond party was once again well attended.

6.4    Our LTD fund is in good shape.

7.1    Treasurer (Sanderson)

FAST:           $4,641.18

7.2    Chapter Committees

7.2.1   Local Representatives (Cave/Connor): July 4^th meeting had good engagement. Lots of questions regarding contract negotiations. Looking at Oct. 27^th for next meeting

7.2.2   Seminars (Ficke):NTR, Kristen to talk with Emma Lecours to plan seminars.

7.2.3   Appointments (Doyle): NTR

7.2.4   Website (Clausen/van Hoek): NTR

7.3    Joint Committees

7.3.1   Association/University Committee (Karras/Sanderson): NTR

7.3.2   Benefits Committee (Doyle/Granot): Met on June 8^th. Info to come..

7.3.3   Job Evaluation Appeals Committee (Connor/Granot): Intense meeting. Sheryl to follow up.

7.3.4   Employment Equity Advisory Group (Butler): in abeyance.

7.3.5   Educational Equity Advisory Group (Perks): in abeyance.

7.3.6   Campus Planning Committee (Karras): NTR

7.3.7   Central ProD (Seager/Blake): 42 of 43 applications were awarded in the last round.

7.3.8   Safety Committee (Granot/Bowles): NTR.

7.3.9   Parking Committee (Granot): NTR

8.Business Arising:

8.1    Grad student and orientation fairs will be held on Aug. 31^st and Sept. 4^th

8.2    There will be a new staff orientation held Aug. 28^th from 8:30-3:30. Katy looking to attend on our behalf.
