31 Motion to Approve Minutes for 8 March 2017, 12 April 2017 – not submitted for review yet, Chris and Mike – will be done at next meeting
- Labour Relations Officer (Montgomery):
Discussed labour relations issues.
- Association Executive (Doyle/Clausen): there was a special topics meeting May 5, 2017 – two topics were discussed.
- Current Business or otherwise to be assigned:
61 PEA Convention this weekend, Pond Party June 28, 2017 and Chapter retreat June 16, 2017. The chapter exec meeting is cancelled on June 14, 2017 – Sheryl will remove the meeting in Outlook.

71 Treasurer (Sanderson)
Coast capital : $17032.12 will go down $300 for cheque for petty cash.
FAST: 1411.28
University Club is booked for the pond part on June 28th, it was not available for the original dates that we chose. Dave would like to up the food order by 10% based on the attendance for this event last year at the same time.
72 Chapter Committees
721 Local Representatives (Cave/Connor): booking a local reps meeting at the end of June in the Continuing Studies building.
722 Seminars (Karras): Sheryl reached out to pension folks to do a seminar – waiting to hear back.
723 Appointments (Doyle): local rep vacancies – Melissa will follow up with Mike to get a list
724 Website (Clausen/van Hoek): Ori will tidy up the minutes postings issues that Melissa pointed out.
73 Joint Committees
731 Association/University Committee (Karras/Sanderson): no meeting for a while
732 Benefits Committee (Doyle/Granot): meeting on may 29th, EFAP change in the works
733 Job Evaluation Appeals Committee (Connor/Granot): 1 appeal upcoming, still in talks to enhance the process – will set up meeting for business process mapping
734 Employment Equity Advisory Group (Butler): disbanded as of end of last cycle. New director of EQHR will set up new process for engagement.
735 Educational Equity Advisory Group (Perks): same as Employment Equity Advisory Group
736 Campus Planning Committee (Karras): NTR
737 Central ProD (Seager/Blake): NTR
738 Safety Committee (Granot/Buchanan): Incident report training is offered at UVic but the BCFed one is better. CUPE took training from the BCFed and paid for it themselves. Can the PEA pay for incident response training from the BCFed for some of our members? Committee members will not need to take a vacation day to attend training since there is up to 8 hours of training legislated. Chris will make motion at the next PEA exec meeting to ask them to fund training. If not, uvic chapter will fund it. We think it is $150 per person.

The PEA staff is now planning the PEA strategic planning session for September. The PEA executive would like some training in making decisions strategically. Melissa will try to find someone from the business school.
Ori would like to create a Uvic chapter document repository – where to put it?
