41 UVic Member Forums on BC Fed Affiliation: Monday 29 April (local reps), Monday 6 May, Wednesday 15 May
42 Layoffs Update – bookstore layoffs were averted due to a resignation
43 Convention – UVic delegates met on Wednesday 3 April in preparation for the convention on 12/13 April
44 UBC/SFU/UVic meeting in Vancouver April 22nd – Emma Carter and John Hall will attend this meeting – topics for discussion include:
a. Bargaining, Grievances and Arbitrations
b. Layoffs at UVic
c. Essential Services Award
d. Union/Association/Worker/Student Solidarity Initiatives
e. PEA has undertaken an internal campaign to join the BC Federation of Labour
f. Faculty at UVic are moving to certify as a union
g. Administrative Services Delivery transformation
45 June Social Event – Vincent Connor recommended our second social event be scheduled for June – dates recommended, in order of preference are: 19, 20, 26 June. Vincent will inquire about booking the event at the University Club

61 Treasurer (Connor):
The current balance in our Coast Capital account, including cheques written to date, is $1591.86 and the FAST account balance is estimated at $1024.30, after a journal entry of $488.59 which was erroneously charged against our FAST account by the University Club. Vincent has submitted the application for the annual chapter grant.

63 Chapter Committees
631 Local Representatives (Karras): Scott McCannell will hold an information session for the Local Reps on the proposed affiliation with the BC Federation of Labour, on Monday April 29th.
632 Seminars: Sheryl Karras put forward an expression of interest to hold a social media seminar for members.
633 Appointments (Connor/Dempsey): A call for two Local Reps (library and cornett building) will be sent out.
64 Joint Committees
641 Association/University Committee (Foxgord): No current agenda items therefore this committee has not met.
642 Benefits Committee (Hall/Doyle): While there have been no meetings, the committee members identified different benefit issues
643 Job Evaluation Appeals Committee (Connor/Dempsey): NTR
644 Employment Equity Advisory Working Group (Carter): The university has hired a contractor to review the university’s equity recruitment and retention practices. Members are encouraged to complete the survey that has been sent out on behalf of the contractor.
