Essentials services are in place for these buildings as per the global order. John Hall attended a Solidarity lunch on Sept 11 where it was agreed that CUPE would keep some of our signs available on their sites for PEA drop-ins to use. Student Affairs reps have asked staff in the counselling office to remove job action signs from their public areas, which they did.

42 Bargaining Update/Membership meetings

Bargaining set for tomorrow, September 13 with another date in progress for next week.

43 Invitation to meet with employer

Steve Gorham has offered to meet with the executive for informal discussion of the job action. We decided to decline at this time, but would consider meeting for a post-mortem once it’s all over.

44 Chapter Elections
We need to activate the elections committee to replace outgoing members. John F. to initiate when he returns from vacation. Still to be determined how many vacancies there are.

441  Appoint of new chapter V-P to replace Gore

Today is Tom’s last meeting, which leaves a vacancy in the vice-president position. Motion (SD, SK): that Leslie Kenny be appointed as vice president. Carried.

45 2012 AGM

Three possible dates for the AGM are November 6, 7, or 8. Leslie will contact Catering services to check availability of Arbutus-Queenswood on those dates. The booking should be for 90, which is the number who attended last year.

46 Fall Social Event

Deferred for the time being.

47 Filling vacant UVic position on PEA Association Executive

Tom’s retirement also created a vacancy in the Association’s VP position. John Foxgord will be moving into this role, which then triggers a vacancy in one of our chapter’s two member-at-large positions. This decision is postponed until the next chapter meeting when everyone is back.

48 Review to-do list
