PEA Chapter Executive Minutes
October 21, 2010
Present: L. Kenny, J. Foxgord, J. Foweraker, V. Connor, L McCaughey, C. Franz, S. McCannell (via telephone)
1. Moved, seconded, passed:
“That the Executive allows A. Epstein to rescind his resignation as a member of the Executive provided he withdraws his bid to run simultaneously as the Vice Chair of the Chapter in the November election.”
Moved by Vincent Connor, seconded by John Foxgord,
Motion passed.
Action item: Chair Catherine Franz to email A. Epstein and inform him of his options to either rescind resignation and withdraw V-P bid, or retain V-P bid and allow resignation to stand, giving him until the end of business hours October 21 to make his decision.
2. There was discussion of the error on the election ballot
Moved, seconded, passed:
“That the Executive seek to move the Annual General Meeting from November 4 to November 15 in order to allow members to complete
the voting process and still keep within the constitutional requirement to hold the AGM by November 15.”
Moved by L. McCaughey, seconded by V. Connor.
Motion passed.
Action items: V. Connor to check with Daphne Andrews re space for November 15.
Scott McCannell and PEA staff to work on revised ballot to mitigate the error due to balloting instructions and missing candidate name.
3. There was discussion of the possibility of having a PEA person on campus at the conclusion of the election process to receive ballots at the PEA office. This issue was not brought forward to a motion due to the imminent possibility of electronic balloting, and the constitutionally embedded practice of returning paper ballots by mail.
