Minutes of UVic Chapter PEA Executive
Friday, October 7th, 2005, Starting at 9:00 AM
Present: Tony Bute, Vincent Connor, Tom Gore, John Hall, Sheryl Karras, Bert Klatt, Bill McGhee, John Foxgord
Please note: An abbreviated executive meeting was held, as the bulk of the meeting was allocated to discussion and analysis of the Job Evaluation (JE) process.
1. Appointment of Minute taker: John Foxgord.
2. Approval of Agenda. MSC
3. Approval of the minutes of September 23, 2005 (Hall). MSC (Gore/Klatt)
4. Urgent Business
4.1. AGM date to be set
Possible dates for the AGM were discussed.
Motion: That the Annual General Meeting of the UVic Chapter of the PEA be held on November 15th 2005 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. MSC (Gore/Hall)
The idea of inviting an external member of the PEA Association executive member was discussed. An executive member local to Victoria would likely be invited.
The executive also decided to provide lunch to AGM attendees as was done in 2004.
5. Reports.
5.1. Chapter Committees
5.1.1. Local Representatives
Tom reported that Chris Purse has replaced Richard Toogood as the Local Rep for University Centre.
5.2. External Committees
5.2.1. Association Executive.
Tom reported that due to growth of the UVic Chapter, the chapter was allocated an additional seat on the Association executive. John Foxgord, who was previously appointed in event that an additional position was allocated to UVic, is now a UVic representative on the Association executive.
6. JEC Review
The main purpose of the meeting was to provide further information on the JE process and then gain approval from the UVic Chapter executive on its implementation.
Tony gave a thorough presentation on the state of the JE process and the proposed time-line for implementation. Many questions and much discussion arose from the presentation.
Motion: The executive approves in principle the implementation of the Job Evaluation Plan and the appeal process as jointly developed by the University and the PEA. MSC (Klatt/McGhee)
